AN EXHIBITION BY PONS BRALEY
RODEZ PHOTOFOLIES FESTIVAL
The city of Rodez gave carte blanche to Pons Braley as guest artist of the Photofolies festival in October 2015. The commissioned work renders homage to the light diffracted in the stained-glass windows of the Abbey Sainte-Foy in Conques, designed by painter and sculpture Pierre Soulages. Consisting of fourteen heliogravure prints and mobiles of the seven corresponding round and two-sided copper matrices, the installation reveals the complex nebulae of the glass’ absolute depths. As an attempt to map the infinitely small, Pons Braley draws on these “samples of native land” to summon the infinitely big of his Arctic experience. A dedicated publication is to be released in 2017 with a foreword by Benoît Decron, director of the Musée Soulages.
